“I've been listening since my 35-year-old son was 2 - we all loved Playground, and I still listen a lot!”

THIS FALL LIVE MUSIC WEEK, 2020:

When you donate $10 a month to WERS, you’ll be able to select Family Four Passes to the Discovery Museum as a thank you gift!

Discovery Museum is a hands-on museum for families that blends science, nature, and play. It’s a wonderful place for families to play, explore, and learn together—indoors and out!

Museum galleries are themed around STEAM concepts—that’s Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math—including Water, Airplay, Light & Color, Sound, Math, Simple Machines, and a workshop for Making & Tinkering. The Museum is great for fun and exploration for kids up to age 12.

COVID safety protocols are in place for a safe and comfortable visit: capacity is limited, masks are required for ages 2 and up, there are one-way flows between galleries. All surfaces and materials are cleaned by staff between the 3 daily visitation time blocks.

Saturdays 6 AM to 10 AM, Sundays 6 AM to 7 AM

Whether you are a kid or a kid at heart, The Playground has the fun music you’re looking for. Playing the best local, national and international kids artists, The Playground mixes nursery rhymes with classics like “Who Put The Bomp!” From Disney music and theme songs to Grammy-award winning and up-and-coming children’s artists, we come together for a morning of listening fun for the whole family.

Meet the DJ:

Best of WLW

Hi! My name is Lea. I'm currently majoring in Communication Studies with a minor in Journalism at Emerson, but I've been working in radio for years, doing everything from promotions to live sound engineering. I was born and raised in East Brunswick, New Jersey. Being 40 minutes away from New York City, I love going to see plays and musicals in the city, with my first musical being Mary Poppins. Growing up, I was raised on a lot of '80s rock and I was obsessed with the Beatles, the Monkees, the Beach Boys, and plenty of other bands from the '60s. I've even seen Paul McCartney in concert twice! Recently, I've been listening to a lot of Faye Webster, ABBA, and Angel Olsen. My favorite songs to play on the Playground is literally anything by the Muppets, like "Rainbow Connection" or "Man or Muppet".

Aside from working in radio and playing a bunch of awesome music on the air, I enjoy riding my bike around Boston, playing guitar, baking, and watching movies. Some of my favorite movies are The Iron Giant, Howl's Moving Castle, and Singin' In The Rain. My favorite TV shows as of late are Steven Universe and Adventure Time because I think they're both imaginative, hilarious shows that both adults and kids can enjoy.

Songs we’ve recently added:

  • Don't Slack from Anderson .Paak and Justin Timberlake from Trolls World Tour
  • Top Secret Personal Beeswax from the Junie B. Jones musical
  • Backflip from Rivers Cuomo
  • Super Cool (ft. Robyn and the Lonely Island) from Beck

Do your kids love music, and want to get involved? Here are some resources we find really helpful!

  • Watch celebrities like Rami Malek, Michelle Yeoh, and so many more read classic and new children’s books
  • Hang out with Dr. Seuss and all of his friends, like the Lorax and the Cat in the Hat, in Seussville
  • Have a dance party with the little ones while also playing some interactive games
  • Get your inner Picasso going by printing out coloring pages for both kids and adults
